Artist Statements
(Part 1)

I am fascinated with the Internet, specifically websites that randomly generated things. This artwork was created using a randomly generating artist statement from an online website: https://artybollocks.com/

I used the following randomly generated artist statement:

“My work explores the relationship between multiculturalism and UFO sightings. With influences as diverse as Kafka and Frida Kahlo, new tensions are crafted from both mundane and transcendent layers. Ever since I was a teenager I have been fascinated by the essential unreality of the zeitgeist. What starts out as vision soon becomes corroded into a tragedy of temptation, leaving only a sense of nihilism and the prospect of a new order. As temporal replicas become distorted through diligent and diverse practice, the viewer is left with a new agenda of the corners of our era.”

**For this piece I mapped out all the UFO sightings in the world up until 2011, then I created coordinating glow-in-the-dark glass pieces that were shaped similar to the UFO sighting experiences I read about.
